ABOUT US

Ten FM, broadcasting on 89.7MHz and 98.7MHz, is a community radio station with possibly one of the largest broadcasting areas in Australia.  Ten FM originally started transmitting in 1983 from a caravan on the top of Mount Mackenzie. The community radio station is now located in the town of Tenterfield, just south of the N.S.W./QLD border. Major towns serviced include Tenterfield and Stanthorpe, although distant towns such as Glen Innes and Grafton also enjoy coverage during periods of favourable conditions.
The licenced coverage area takes in Woodenbong in the north, Texas to the west, Deepwater to the south and Tabulam to the east. Other localities that enjoy good signal strength include Yetman, Urbenville, Mingoola, Ballandean, Glen Aplin and Bonshaw, along with Wallangarra   & Jennings.

Coverage Area and Transmission Information.

Ten FM community station transmits on FM frequencies of 89.7MHz with a 4kW transmitter located on Mt Mackenzie,
8km south west of Tenterfield NSW and 98.7MHz with a low power transmitter situated on Mt Marlay, which is one kilometre east of the Stanthorpe CBD. This repeater services areas around Stanthorpe to a distance of about 10km.

The Ten FM signal is now RDS compatible. RDS - Radio Data System – is a technique which allows us to send, along
with our normal audio stream, digital information like the song title of the current track on air and the name of the
current show on Ten FM. Many home entertainment and          in-car receivers are now able to decode RDS information which will enhance your radio listening enjoyment.hich
